  Scouts, earning rank of Eagle
  Scout in 1970

  Mercer University - major in
  political science; member of varsity
  debate team

• Studied law and earned Juris
   Doctorate from Mercer in 1983

• Returned to Albany and began
  work as a lawyer

• Partner in law firm of Hall, Booth, Smith &
  Slover, Albany offices.

• Married to the former Peggy
   Hicks, also a native of Albany

• Proud parents of two children
